Long Paws presents its Lick'n Flow dog water bottle. Super practical and water-efficient, water is released when the dog licks the ball at the top of the bottle. The bottle features a patented slow-release system that allows your dog or even your cat to drink water in a controlled manner. When your dog licks the top of the bottle, it activates a valve that releases a small jet of water.

Features of Lick'n Flow dog water bottles

Made of stainless steel and BPA-free plastic, the Lick'n Flow dog bottles are hygienic and contain no harmful chemicals.

Leak-proof, the Lick'n Flow bottle from Long Paws keeps water inside and not in your backpack. Its wide opening allows for deep cleaning and easy refilling.

A little extra: it attaches to your bag or belt thanks to the carabiner provided.

Lick'n Flow water bottles are available in 3 sizes: 250 ml, 500 ml, and 750 ml.

How to use Lick'n Flow dog water bottles

To use the bottle:

  • Open the cap,
  • Tilt the bottle downward (making sure not to spill water on your dog’s or cat’s head or muzzle),
  • When your dog or cat licks the top of the bottle, it releases a small flow of water,
  • The bottle releases just enough water for one sip at a time, reducing waste.

You will only need your pet’s water bottle. No more leaking plastic water bottles or bowls with plastic residue.

Uses of Lick'n Flow dog water bottles

The Long Paws dog and cat water bottles come in 3 sizes to always be available for you and your pet during different activities. They are perfect for outdoor adventures, walks, travels, pet exhibitions, and sports days.

  • The 250 ml bottle fits easily in your handbag or small water bag, perfect for keeping your dog hydrated on walks. This prevents them from drinking from puddles and reduces the risk of parasite-related diseases.
  • The 500 ml and 750 ml bottles are great for longer walks, day hikes, multi-day hikes (if you have refill options), and travels. They also fit in your car or motorcycle luggage. On a train, the slow-release system allows your pet to drink water gradually without waste, even when stops are not available.

The different models of Lick'n Flow dog water bottles

Not all colors are available in every size. The camouflage color is only available in 500 ml, the blue in 500 ml and 750 ml, while black, metallic, and paw-print colors are available in all three sizes.

Colors:

  • 250 ml: black / metallic / paw prints,
  • 500 ml: blue / camouflage / black / metallic / paw prints,
  • 750 ml: blue / black / metallic / paw prints.

Long Paws Lick'n Flow Dog and Cat Bottle FAQs:

Will my small dog be able to drink from the pet water bottle?

Yes, they will. Lick'n Flow bottles are used by dogs of all sizes.

Why shouldn't I just let my dog find puddles on our walks?

There are many parasites, one of the most worrying being the lungworm. Dogs pick it up by ingesting the larvae of the A vasorum. They get it by eating snails and similar creatures that are infected with the larvae, or simply by drinking water that has slugs and the like in it. So it's very important to make sure you always have fresh water on hand and that your dog knows where to find it.

Do dogs need more water than we humans?

Unlike humans, dogs can't sweat, which means it's harder for them to cool down. This means they need a steady supply of water to help them cool down and avoid dehydration. That's why it's so important to make sure your dogs have water available when you're out and about.

So how do dogs cool down?

Dogs cool down with their tongue and paw pads - if you see your dog panting, tongue hanging out or looking lethargic, you need to give them water - and remember, if the ground is warm, they can't cool off through their paw pads.

What size pet water bottle should I buy?

It depends on you and your pets. If your dogs are big drinkers, you take them on very long walks, or you have multiple dogs, you'll probably want a 750ml bottle. The 250ml bottle is ideal for a purse and provides enough water for short walks. The 500ml pet water bottle is a perfect in-between size.

Can I wash the pet water bottle in the dishwasher?

No, it's best not to! Hand wash only please.

What happens if water leaks from my pet water bottle?

The trick is to hold the dog bottle with the spout down. The ideal angle is a 45-degree downward angle, like you see in the video on the other tab. When tilted down, the water pushes the ball up the spout and prevents water from flowing out. If water is leaking out the top, you need to tilt the bottle down further. If by any chance water is leaking from the side of your dog water bottle, or your bottle is leaking when closed, your dog bottle may be missing a seal. Contact us and we will make sure to resolve the issue. What should I do if my dog doesn't don't understand right away?

Hold your bottle in front of your dog, but away from his head and not over his nose (this will get him wet). Let a little water drip out of the dog bottle so your dog can see the water. Let a little water drip into the palm of your hand and let your dog lick the water off your hand. Move your hand closer to the dog bottle and your pet will find the source of the drips. As he licks the ball, the dog bottle will release more water and he will usually start licking the ball. If you're still having trouble convincing them to try drinking from the pet water bottle, try a little chicken broth instead of water first.

Is there anything I shouldn't do when bottle training my pet?

Yes. Do not hold the dog bottle over the dog's head or let the water run down the dog's nose. No one likes that, and it will definitely scare them. Also, do not let the water run out of the dog bottle. Let it drain slowly so they can see the water.

Can my cat drink from a bottle?

Yes, they can. We have a number of cat owners who are customers of the Pet Water Bottle, and if you walk your cat, the Pet Water Bottle isn't just a dog bottle - it can be perfect for you too.

Why Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel is important because in addition to plastic, metal bottles can also be made from aluminum, which is porous and harbors bacteria. Aluminum bottles are often made with a plastic polymer coating on the inside - the coating uses the same plastic used to make plastic water bottles. Stainless steel is polished rather than porous and is not coated with plastic on the inside. We hope that Long Paws dog water bottles will help people reduce their carbon footprint, while eliminating the risks associated with plastics.

But I thought dogs don't drink that way: they put the water in their mouth by licking downwards?

That’s partly true. When drinking from a bowl, dogs scoop the water down and back into their mouths. However, dogs’ tongues are pretty nimble (as you’ll see when they give you a big, slobbery kiss). For example, when drinking from a running faucet, they tilt their heads to the side, let the water fall out of their mouths, and then scoop it up. But some go down, while others go up in this case. With pet water bottles, they simply pour straight out the top. Tested and approved!

What are BPA ?

BPA, or bisphenol A, is an organic compound used, along with other materials, to make plastics. It is controversial because it releases weak but detectable hormonal properties and is often used in the coating of food cans, plastic bottles, and other consumer products. Several governments have expressed concerns about the safety of bisphenol in consumer products, and some retailers have even withdrawn its use.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expressed concerns about exposure to fetuses, infants, and young children, and Canada has declared BPA a toxic substance. The EU and Canada have banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and studies are ongoing into the current “safe levels” of BPA in the human body.

Over the past 7 years, potential links have been identified between BPA exposure and: obesity; fetal and infant brain development; thyroid changes; increased risk of various types of cancer; changes in breast tissue; adverse reproductive effects; increased prostate weight; lower body weight; early puberty; longer estrus; decreased maternal behaviors; and reversal of normal sex differences in brain structure.

"The problem is that BPA is also a synthetic estrogen, and plastics containing BPA can break down, especially when washed, heated, or stressed, allowing the chemical to leach into food and water and then enter the human body. It happens to almost all of us. The CDC found BPA in the urine of 93% of Americans surveyed over the age of 6. If you don't have BPA in your body, you're not living in the modern world." The Perils of Plastic, TIME Magazine.
